KS Environmental Expands Community Support with Westall Primary School Breakfast Club

At KS Environmental, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back to the neighborhoods that support us. With a long history of involvement in local initiatives, including the Healthy Start programme in Hume, we are proud to announce our latest partnership with Westall Primary School, just a few kilometres from our head office.

Supporting Young Minds: The Breakfast Club Initiative

Understanding the vital role that a nutritious breakfast plays in a child’s ability to learn and thrive, Paul Smith from KS Environmental recently reached out to Westall Primary School. In his conversation with Vice Principal Mr. Dexter Siriwardene and Mrs. Taif Al-Furaiji, the Breakfast Club coordinator, Paul learned about the school’s efforts to provide breakfast for students who might otherwise start their day hungry.

The Breakfast Club, which originally operated on Monday and Wednesday mornings, was in need of additional funding to expand its services. After reviewing the options provided by Dexter, KS Environmental decided to fully fund the largest amount requested by the club. This generous contribution enabled the Breakfast Club to add a third day—Friday—ensuring that more children could start their day with a nutritious meal.

A Morning at Westall Primary School

On Friday, August 9th, 2024, Paul Smith, accompanied by Kingston Council representative Katy Rolland, visited Westall Primary School to witness the Breakfast Club in action. Both were deeply impressed by the dedication and resourcefulness of the staff and volunteers, who do so much with so little.

“It’s incredible to see how something as simple as breakfast can make such a difference in a child’s day,” Paul remarked. “Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces and knowing that they’re starting their day with the energy they need to learn and grow is truly rewarding.”
