This Saturday will mark the 10th year of the annual WWF ‘Earth Hour’. From 8.30pm – 9.30 pm Saturday 25th March individuals, businesses, communities and even global landmarks will be turning out their non-essential lights for 1 hour!
The aim of the event is to raise awareness on climate change and as a symbolic act of commitment for our planet. While we may be saving energy throughout that hour by turning the lights off, the focus of the event is much wider than that and is more about changing peoples mindsets to think more broadly about how they can live and act more sustainably. It has also been the driver of much larger campaigns and initiatives globally.
Last year many iconic landmarks turned their lights out to show their support, including, the Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building, and the spectacular Shanghai skyline. Can’t wait to see who gets involved this year!
