Coffee Pods banned in German city

The German city of Hamburg has recently banned coffee capsules/pods from government run buildings as part of an environmental drive to reduce waste. Click here to read the BBC News article on this topic.

It’s definitely food for thought and  scary to learn that  in the UK alone £112m-worth of coffee pods were sold last year and sales are expected to treble by 2020.

It’s great that there are now recycling programs in place for some coffee pods for example Nespresso and NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto, but perhaps we should be thinking more about reducing waste from the source rather than using recycling as the solution?
